where has the month gone!!
My sisters and I decided to carve pumpkins the last time she was in town. It was a grand old time. Getting all of us together makes me think about where things will be in about 5 to 10 years. Maybe we will still all be together carving our kids pumpkins! It also gave my sister a time to try my pretzel bites, which turned out good. Christi helped make the homemade honey mustard dressing and they were gone as quick as we set them on the table!
Next was the murder mystery party with our Sunday School class. This was a lot of fun since it involved pirates this go around. I was a well known gold dealer, and Kenneth was a treasure hunter. As you can see from the facebook photos he pulls off a great pirate ;) The party was much harder to figure out than last year, but didn't drag on as long, which was good because by 9 o'clock I was falling asleep! Only 4 people guessed right, and I would have been one, but I changed my answer at the last second! :( We also visited with his parents that weekend who came in to see the Titans parade on the Colts. It was also the first time they saw our new apartment!
We just got back from a weekend trip to South Carolina. We went to visit Lauren & G.A. and the girls. It had been a little over a year since the last time we saw them, so we figured this would be good. It was great seeing the girls, and also seeing their house. We also went to the South Carolina vs Florida game which was a lot of fun! Then we came back here, and had a low key day of doing lots of nothing.
We did see the movie Tower Heist. It was a good movie! Little cuss words and language that makes you go say why?! But very good reasons and thoughts behind it! Made a meal plan for this week, hoping I can get back in the swing of things and get my grocery budget under control since I've been slacking the past month or so! :) I'm off to bed, school and kroger work tomorrow! Been nice being off :)

Since the last post..
We have moved into our new apartments, and its semi looking like a home. I promise pictures will come. The closet is done, the bedroom is looking less like a war zone, the bathroom cabnets need to be rearranged, pictures need to be hung, and my rack for pots needs to be hung, but other than that it is liveable. We did order a new desk, so we spent yesterday putting that together, and I have to say, it looks quite nice!
Kenneth has bipassed the age of 25 and turned 26 :) We spent the weekend in Memphis. The girls ran errands with his mom, and the boys went to play golf. It was a perfect weekend for that, and it seemed like they had a wonderful time! I got Kenneth a customized Titans hoodie, it is a little too small for him, so he has gonna kick it on that P90X! :) It might also help if we get organized again and stop eating out. I have cooked a grand total of 2 times these past 2 weeks we have lived here. But we have been taking our lunches to work :)
I am cutting back on the number of hours I work at Kroger. I have to maintain 18 hours a week, but I told her I can't work past 9 anymore. I have to set 3 alarms to make sure I get up in the mornings, which I know isn't good. I look forward to Wednesday and Friday afternoon, when I can take naps, but recently I haven't been able to do that because of trying to get this place in an organized fashion. Kenneth also has a new shift at work, and I don't have to be home to make him dinner, since he gets only a 30 minute, and isn't able to leave the call center for long. But he also gets off at 8 instead of 9:15.
We have the murder mystery party next weekend, so that will be a lot of fun. Its based on a pirates theme, so I'm trying to think of a costume for that. Pictures of that will come later. :) I know Powers is interested in them!
Alrighty, I've gotta get moving, because I have to be at work early from now on! :/ Lets hope this schedule change helps me.

Our New Apartment!
The people at Westbury Farms are AMAZING people! I haven't received this type of customer service since I first walked into a Publix!! :) So anyway, after looking at these apartments since mid-July I'm sure they will be happy when we move in! We have taken my mom by there 3 times, Kenneth and I have toured about 7 to 10 times, his mother has seen it, and the list goes on. Well as you guys might be aware we did have an apartment available for move in on Sept 23. It had everything we.. I wanted. It had a garden tub, 1 bedroom, extra storage on the patio, and faced south east (that's for Kenneth and his Direct TV). The only thing it was lacking was the 3rd vaulted ceiling which I absolutely wanted!
So from the moment we signed the lease for the 2nd floor option we kept calling them about every 2 to 3 days asking if they had a 3rd floor one bedroom opening up. I finally resort myself to the fact I wasn't getting my vaulted ceilings and we go in there on a Sat, to ask some sort of question and they tell us one of the managers is moving to a 2 bedroom and her apartment is on the 3rd floor.. but move in would have to be Oct 14.. at the earliest. I look at Kenneth and I'm like I WILL TAKE IT!
Haha.. but first we check with our old apartment to see how much it would cost to stay there an extra 2 weeks.. that would be around $700.. I'm like what?! That's for half the month there and we still have to factor in Westbury will want half of our rent there also. So I start thinking.. what about putting things in storage and moving in with my parents. Which is the route we ended up taking. When I calculated it all up our rent for this month would have been close to $1200 and that's not including a moving truck! We've managed to cut that in half!
We get a call from them on Tuesday telling us that the cleaners have come and its looking like move in will be this Saturday! All is what we have to do is find a time to come in and sign the new lease. When we do this, I find out they have hired an outside cleaning company to clean our apartment, just so we can get in faster! How amazing is that! That leads me to this. Kenneth and I thought we should do something special for them since they have been so accommodating and thoughtful to us!
So take a look at this!

It's trail mix!! I got a little creative this week.. I think its cuz I've had so much time on my hands, but I was trying to figure out what to do and a blog came across this! I made my own twist on it, and added candy corn, pretzels, cheerios, cheese-its, reese's pieces, and cashews.. I can't find my stash of M&Ms but if I could they would be in there too! I think it should be something they all enjoy.

1st year Reflections
Its hard to believe it's been a year. This is going to be an honest post. With my thoughts about the first year, the things we went through, and other things.
I am a very organized OCD individual. Kenneth has lived on his own since college. He always tells a funny story about one day he was talking to his mom and came back with clothes from the laundry and took his laundry basket and dumped them all into the drawer. His roommate at the time asked if he wanted to borrow the iron he was using, and his mom heard it and started cracking up! So having to deal with glasses on the tables, clothes thrown on the floor, and things of the like was a real adjustment for me. It was hard for me to get used to it, and that caused some fights.
Our first month was probably very blissful. We were very much on a high of getting married and didn't know any different. October was also filled with many activities for us to do on the weekends.
A big part of the first year up and downs I think stems from me working two jobs. I would wake up at 5:40, and leave by 6:40. Kenneth would stay home till 12 and then he was heading into work. I would get home around 3:00 and have to either head straight over to kroger or I was able to get dinner ready before I headed out. I then wouldn't get home till 10:30 and then had to worry about dinner, or laundry or cleaning, which would leave me up till 11:30 or so. This caused major frustration at the beginning because I would come home and everything was just as I left it. After talking it over with him, he started helping me. The laundry started to get done, dishes in the dishwasher, and the place became vacuumed. Those few things made my life easier.
We have gotten into a routine. A routine that's going to be changing again once we move into our new place because now he only has 30 minutes for lunch and won't be able to come see me. But he does get off at 3:30 on Fridays now if he wants to flex out! Which he is allowed to do 3 times a month!! :) I'm going to keep preparing meals, but it will only be me eating now. Eating at 8 is just to late most days. And I'm going to try to make one meal a week he can eat off of for his lunch hour. Something that will change on a weekly basis. Like this week is BBQ pork sandwich, with apples and caramel dip!
I'm learning to let things go, and granted it hasn't happened as quickly as I have wanted it to, just being around him, and knowing that words I say hurt him, has taught me to watch how I approach things, what all is being said, and how I go about being a person.
We never did get around to taking a 1 year trip, but we had several vacations this year. We are also planning on heading to Columbia in November, and even going to Sandals Jamaica in the spring!
We are finally getting caught up to a comfort spot financially. I spent most of my savings on the wedding, and even had to pay my parents back for everything that wasn't part of the budget they set. Which only really covered the food and the site. Everything else I paid for. Kenneth had been living off his credit card for a little while thanks to him not working a better job than Kroger. Add to that my ring, furniture, and rent, its amazing we stayed afloat. At the beginning of the year we opened a savings account and all my Kroger paychecks went to that. That has helped for sure start saving for a house or my schooling expenses.
That sums up this first year. It was a rocky road for sure, but I wouldn't trade things. He is more thoughtful than I first gave him credit for. And even though I was very stubborn when we first started 'dating' I'm so thankful I warmed up to him.

First 3 days of October
Right now we are living at my parents house. All our stuff is in a 10 by 10 storage unit or up in my parents bonus room. I'm living out of suitcases and can't remember where half the stuff is that I packed. But its all great because in 2 weeks, we will have the keys to our 2nd apartment. I can't wait to get in and take pictures and unpack everything and see if Kenneth and I's bet is real. He thinks we can't fit everything into our new place.
Our anniversary was amazing. We went to church, just Sunday School though, because we literally spent 12 hours moving on Saturday! We then went to Chili's and ate just chips and queso! :) Then we headed over to our old place where we turned in our keys and did the walk through. They charged us for the shower not being clean and the oven having grease on it. Oh well, if they want to be picky, go for it! We then went to Publix and picked up the mini cake that my mother-in-law had ordered for us and headed back to my parents house to drop off some of the stuff we had left in the apartment. By then it was time to go to the Melting Pot. When we got there, Kenneth had called ahead and ordered roses. We told each other no gifts this year. We were ahead on money, but then summer came and wiped us out clean since it was only Kenneth who was working full time. I also had a coupon for free chocolate covered strawberries which we got also! After we finished our 4 course meal with probably the best fondue bananas foster I have ever tried, we headed back home. We swung into Kohls to pick up a jacket for Kenneth, he broke his Columbia last fall. And then we went to redbox and got Source Code. It was a wonderful anniversary and despite the moving, I couldn't have asked for a wonderful day or an amazing guy to share it with. :)
Now for today, I have already one load of laundry going and a roast in the crock-pot. I need to pack since I'm leaving for Florida tomorrow, and I have 3 more loads of laundry left to do. I also want to try to get my coupons sorted since I've been slacking off greatly for that! I did manage to get to Publix this week for awesome savings and I kept to my budget of only spending $75 this month on groceries at Publix. I also saved close to $145 to $155! And it looks like this week is going to be good week also!
October is going to be jam packed and I don't think we slow down till Thanksgiving! I will get the one year reflection post up soon!

The months are passing by..
Kenneth and I will be moving out in a few days. I'm excited, but I'm hoping my energy comes back to me fast. I have done nothing this week, except a load of laundry on Wednesday, but lay around in bed and sleep! I've got my usual 4 loads of laundry to get done tonight/tomorrow, along with some meals to prepare. And then there are the boxes that still need to be packed up. I was hoping to make it to the electric company along with UHaul to rent a truck, but a nap that started around 445 and went till around 715 put a damper in that.
Scratch that.. we found out today that there is a 3rd floor apartment opening up middle of October. So we will be moving out of this apartment next weekend, putting our stuff in a storage unit, and moving in with my parents for 12 days. Then we will get our keys and work on move in during that week. Things will be so crazy the month of October! Between moving, our anniversary, Kenneth's Birthday, more moving, and halloween! Not to mention with our Sunday school class we have gender revealing parties, baby showers, and the murder mystery party!
School work is getting stressful. We have added child number 9 and 10 to the mix this week. Its just crazy keeping everyone's schedules straight, while trying to get work accomplished. All of these children require one-on-one attention. Which means they are equivalent to around 8 typical children. So basically we have around 70 to 80 'students' in our classroom! And I wonder why tempers are flaring, and I'm coming home so tired.
Fall break is in 2 weeks. I'm going to use that time to sleep and hopefully get rested. Not to mention work on getting things organized in our new place. I'll be happy when we can move into a house, and stop living in an apartment. I might go to Flordia with mom and dad, but I'm not sure. Kenneth and I are going to celebrate our anniversary at the Melting Pot and I should have that entire week off both jobs!
Also hoping to try a few recipes I've found on Pintrest!! I made Buffalo Chicken Dip, THANKS Anna, last weekend for a Sunday school going away party and LOVED it!! I really think I want to make it tomorrow to see if it will kick this stuff!
In November, we will be taking a weekend trip to SC to visit some friends and so Kenneth can watch the Gators and the Gamecocks play! I was hoping to visit them for fall break, but the Auburn game is that weekend, and they will have many people around the house. Besides when I visit the girls I want to see them!
And I think thats an update. I'll cover more later :)

Its only happened 2 times in the past 20 years
Thursday proved to be an interesting day at school. It started off as a typical day trying to adjust to yet another new schedule. Our teacher had to leave at 11, so she left, and we tried to figure out lunch times for us adults. We then sat around and discussed the new rotation thing we were doing and why it was so confusing and then I left for lunch. I get back from lunch around 12:15, and while in the hallway near the cafeteria, I hear a huge boom. I shrug it off as though someone has dropped something in the kitchen. Been known to happen. About 5 minutes later, our principal comes on the announcements and says we are going to a code yellow. I know this means go to the classroom, make sure doors are locked, and be on the lookout. Trying to get kids who aren't done eating into the classroom is difficult!
5 minutes after this she comes on the announcements again and says that if we have an outside facing door, to open it. This is when I start to get panicky. This same day Stewart's Creek had gone into a code red mode, because someone was spotted near the school with a gun. I knew then we weren't dealing with an intruder, but something was up.
Another 5 minutes pass, and she gets on the PA system and says we need to evacuate. Now, our kids. We are right in the middle of their nap time. Its around 12:40ish at this point. Not to mention its getting to be around 95 or hotter outside! Oh my. Thank goodness our student teacher said grab our purses because if she hadn't there is no way we would have gotten home or anything!
We end up waiting outside what seems like an eternity, only 45 mins or so probably. We walk out to our normal place and then are told to get further away from the building and pushed to the field way in the back. I also have the radio and hear communication between the officials, and that's when I hear its a gas leak, and we are relocating to another school. The fire department showed up, ambulances, and police cars. They started blocking off driveways left and right. We are able to get transported to another school, just down the road, and everything turns out fine.
It was an eventful Thursday. I'm glad the kids behaved so well, well as well as can be expected for autistic kids in 95 degree heat, during nap time! Things were safe to go back into today, but I was really hoping for a 4 day weekend, and a me day! :) Somethings don't happen that way.
Onto personal news: Kenneth and I have passed the application process for the apartment, and are signing the lease on Wednesday. Things are getting packed up, but as of tonight, I'm going to start putting everything into the guest bedroom, since it will be empty. Move in date is set for 3 weeks from today. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but moving into this apartment will help us save more than 200$ extra dollars a month. So we should be racking in major savings in the next few months. Which will be great, so we can get a house when I get out of nursing school or physical therapy school.
That brings me to my next topic. I've decided that I'm going to apply to 3 colleges for nursing school, and another 3 to become a physical therapy assistant or occupational therapy assistant. I decided I didn't want to become a Radiologic Technology Program because I was scared for radiation issues, that I didn't want to know I might have caused. I looked at an ultrasound tech, but I'm sorry, those pictures just confuse me! Medical transcriptionist might be fun, but I can't sit behind a computer all day and type up notes! Maybe when I'm 70, sure, but not now! :) So that leaves me with those options. Physical therapy assistant is pretty appealing because I've got all the prereq's, I just would have one year to complete, but it requires a ton of volunteer hours, and I'm not sure how I would squeeze that into my already busy life. Occupational would be fun, because there are so many things that you can work with them on. Squeezing things, holding pencils, all fun stuff. So yea, those are my thoughts with my schooling as of now.
